A special free online event will help young people and their parents, as well as older learners, to find out more about apprenticeships and the career opportunities they bring.

To mark National Apprenticeship Week 2022 (February 7 to 13), Northumbrian Water is holding the special 45-minute event to celebrate apprenticeships and answer people’s questions. The event will give people a chance to hear first-hand from existing and past apprentices.

The water company has more than 45 apprentices working in a range of roles, from operations to admin to support services such as communications and HR. Employees have also used apprenticeship programmes to update their skills, or even change their career path completely.

The online event will run from 10.30am to 11.15am on

Wednesday 9 February.

Alex Brennan, Talent Manager at Northumbrian Water, said: “Apprenticeships offer an amazing way to start a career, to update and improve your skills, or even to make a change that requires retraining in something brand new.

“2022 marks the 15th annual National Apprenticeship Week and it’s a great chance to showcase the positive impact apprenticeships can have on people’s lives, as well as their communities, local businesses and regional economies.

“We have some amazing young Apprentices here, who are really contributing to the success of their teams and the business. We also have people who have changed career path completely, decades after leaving school, using an apprenticeship programme to make it possible.

“Our free online Q&A is a great chance for people to hear from apprentices and those who work around them, and to ask any questions they may have.”
