The water company launched more than 24 apprenticeship vacancies on Monday, February 10, during National Apprenticeship Week and the response has been unprecedented with more than 1,400 applications to date, almost doubling last year’s figure.
Northumbrian Water (NW) has a variety of apprenticeships across the North East and successful candidates will start in September in roles such as maintenance, water supply, customer service, data analysis and laboratory science. These opportunities range from Level 3 advanced apprenticeships to Level 6 degree apprenticeships. All the apprentices are supported with a business mentor, and they are also provided with an in-depth development programme.
Since 2021 NW has demonstrated a commitment to bringing in new talent from the local community by enrolling over 100 apprentices with a retention rate of 96%. This means our apprentices are thriving and moving into full time roles within the organisation.
Helen Smith, People Development Specialist at Northumbrian Water said; "The response to our apprenticeship vacancies has been fantastic with in excess of 1,400 applications in the space of fourteen days. We really can’t wait to meet the applicants and find some remarkable individuals to join our NWG family.”
The water company is encouraging those who may not be successful this time around to register for job alerts as more opportunities are expected to be released soon. Visit: www.nwg.co.uk/careers
