Essex & Suffolk Water have set up bottled water stations to support customers impacted by the supply issues in the Halesworth area.
Update: 22:42
This is an update in relation to the water supply issues that customers in the Halesworth, Dennington, Saxtead and Framlington areas of Suffolk have experienced today.
Thanks to the hard work of our operations and water network teams, water supplies, and normal water pressures should now be restored to the majority of properties.
Some people living in high elevation areas and the very edge of Halesworth may have slightly low pressures for the next few hours, but this should be resolved fully overnight as the network recharges.
We have closed the bottled water station that we were running for customers at Halesworth and are continuing to provide bottled water to Priority Service Customers who require it overnight.
Essex & Suffolk Water’s Water Director, Kieran Ingram, said: “We would like to thank our customers for their patience during this fix. It was an incredibly complex repair that was slowed down by some really difficult weather conditions and tough circumstances.
“We had some really nice feedback from customers at the bottled water station this evening and we really appreciate customers understanding while we got this matter resolved.”
Our teams will continue to monitor networks throughout the night to ensure customers supplies are fully restored for in the morning.
Anyone who needs water urgently overnight or who need any extra support can contact us on 0345 7820999.
Update: 16:47
Essex & Suffolk Water have set up bottled water stations to support customers impacted by the supply issues in the Halesworth area.
The problem was caused by a burst water main near to our water treatment works in Walpole.
Thanks to the hard work by operational teams, the burst is now repaired. This was completed at around 3pm and customers’ water supplies should start to return to normal over the next few hours.
While the network continues to recharge and supplies restore, we are supplying free bottled water for those customers who still might need it this evening.
This can be accessed at the Co-op store on Saxons Way in Halesworth. Postcode: IP19 8LU.
A station has been set up in the carpark and employees on hand to help customers. People are asked to attend the carpark and follow the instructions to safely collect their water.
It will be a drive through collection and no requirement to get out of the car.
The stations will be operating from 6pm until 10pm tonight, when all customers’ supplies are expected to be restored.
Essex & Suffolk Water’s Water Director, Kieran Ingram, said: “Our teams have done a great job in difficult conditions to get the repair complete and anyone who has seen any issues with their water supply should start to see this return back to normal over the next few hours.
“In the meantime, we’re making bottled water available for those customers who might need it.
“We apologise to those customers affected for the impact this is having and understand the difficulties this can cause. We would like to thank customers for their patience while we resolve this.”
Updates on the situation will be posted on Facebook and on Twitter at @eswater_care.
We have been delivering bottled water to customers on our Priority Service Register throughout the day and anyone who thinks they need extra support can contact Essex & Suffolk Water on 0345 7820999.
Update: 12:04
Customers in the areas around Halesworth, Dennington, Saxtead and Framlingham in Suffolk may be experiencing low water pressure or no water this morning (Thursday, January 18).
Our teams have been working through the night to repair a burst water main near our Walpole Water Treatment Works. Due to the location, this is proving a difficult operation in challenging conditions with sub-zero temperatures.
Once the repair is complete, and we expect that to be in the next couple of hours, those affected should see supplies and pressure return throughout the day.
We are tankering extra water supplies into the impacted areas to try and minimise any impact to our customers, and we have been delivering bottled water to those on our Priority Services Register throughout the morning.
Anyone who thinks they need extra support can contact us on
0345 7820999. We are asking for customers to not ring this number unless it is an emergency, as we want to keep the lines free for urgent requests for help.
Essex & Suffolk Water’s Water Director, Kieran Ingram, said: “We apologise for the impact this is having on our customers and we understand how difficult interruptions to water supply can be.
“Our teams are working hard to get the situation resolved as soon as we can. We would like to thank customers for their patience.”
Updates on the situation will be posted for customers through our Facebook page and on Twitter at @eswater_care.
